Planimetries urbanes
Pere Bellès
Pere Bellès (Terrassa, 1965) lives and works in the Alt Empordà. His work has been widely exhibited since the late 1990s. Bellès develops a procedural artistic practice focused on architecture, urban planning and geography. His work transforms urban plans, architectural projects and cartographic maps into abstract compositions in which form and colour predominate.
We can describe Pere Bellès' work as pictorial and object-based. First he paints each of the pieces that make up his paintings or sculptures, draws the shapes and finally joins them together, achieving the desired object. Whether it is a painting or a sculpture.
He uses the abstraction of urban plans and architecture to create contemporary compositions with his own, minimalist language, with a strong predominance of colour. The analysis of colour and form, as well as the balance between these two elements, are distinctive characteristics of Bellès' works.
In the exhibition “Planimetries urbanes” he works with colour on wood, with meticulous workmanship. The chromatic treatment of his works stands out. The compositions have flat and intense colours, and the result is a contemporary minimalist language. In the exhibition, you can enjoy a wide pictorial representation, as well as some sculptures with the same language that characterizes him.
